The Montessori way

“The child gives us a beautiful lesson: that in order to form and maintain our intelligence, we must use our hands.”

Dr Len Andrew

At Royal Kids, children are explorers. Our guides prepare a beautiful environment, observe what each child is ready for, and then step back, so your child learns at their own pace and in their own way.

Practical life is a big part of every day, like our Little Royal Chefs making their own healthy snack.

Our approach

Daily rhythm

A day at Royal Kids

A calm, predictable rhythm helps little ones feel safe, and feeling safe is what lets them explore.

  1. 1From 6:00 am

    Arrival & breakfast

A warm welcome, a healthy breakfast and time to settle in before the day begins.

  2. 2Morning ring

    Greeting circle

Songs, names, the calendar and the weather, and today's new lesson.

  3. 3Work time

    Montessori work cycle

Children choose their work from the shelves and stay with it as long as it holds them, with a snack along the way.

  4. 4Midday

    Lunch together

A healthy lunch at child-sized tables, laid and cleared by little hands.

  5. 52:00 pm

    Half-day home time

Half-day children head home. Full-day friends rest or move into a quieter afternoon work period.

  6. 6Until 5:30 pm

    Teatime & aftercare

Afternoon teatime, circle and play until home time at 5:30 pm.

Learning by doing

Real activities, real skills

Our royals learn with their hands every day. Here's a look at what they've been busy with lately.

Little Royal Chefs

Making a healthy, delicious snack

In their red chef's crowns, our little chefs made their own pizza toast from start to finish. Along the way they practised following steps, using a spoon with care and being proud of something they made themselves.

  1. 1Spread the sauceSpooning tomato sauce over the bread, right to the edges.
  2. 2Add the toppingsPlacing vienna slices one by one and sprinkling grated cheese.
  3. 3Toast and serveThen proudly serving it up on their very own plate.

Caring for a friend

Masks on and bandages ready: wrapping a friend's "sore" wrist builds careful hands, gentle words and plenty of empathy.
